Boom 2 year old Tricolours Racing colt The Novelist scored a brilliant win in the Group 3 BJ McLachlan Stakes at Doomben on Christmas Eve for the Gai Waterhouse / Adrian Bott stable and he is now a guaranteed starter in the 2YO Magic Millions.  

With jockey James Innes Jnr in the saddle, The Novelist was able to take control and lead all the way and although challenged in the straight, showed great resilience to hold on for his second consecutive win in only 2 career starts.
The Novelist is owned by an all-ladies syndicate, many of them first-time owners, and they have given their star colt the nickname of Flash.

Director of Tricolours Racing James Moss said "That was a huge win from The Novelist. 2 weeks between runs, up in trip, interstate, and he was still too good for Queensland's best 2yr olds. There is still improvement in him. Today was about booking his ticket to the big one and now he is in, we will have him ready to explode in 3 weeks time"
